NEWARK - A mother who lost her 1-year-old daughter in a tragic accident is urging other parents to consider organ donation.

Patti Jackson's daughter Zoe was struck and killed two years ago. When her child died, Jackson made the decision to donate her daughter's organs, a choice that she says saved three other lives.

"If she wasn't going to survive, someone had to be able to," Jackson says. "It didn't make sense for me to just bury her."

Jackson hopes to remind other parents about the need for donated organs.. As part of Donate Life month, Jackson joined the transplant organization New Jersey Sharing Network in spreading that message Friday at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Earlier this week, the parents of Brandon Holt, the 6-year-old who died when he was shot by a playmate, announced that they had donated their son's organs.
