NEWARK - Kids in Newark are getting a new playground courtesy of the Morgan Stanley Healthy Cities program.

Hundreds of volunteers were at the site on South Orange Avenue Friday, turning a rundown area into a safe and fun place for Newark families to gather.

"It was an empty lot with a rusted fence," says Jeffery Crystal, of Morgan Stanley. "They're gonna turn that dilapidated parking lot into something that's gonna be a safe haven for children to come to in Newark."

The Healthy Cities program will also provide almost 100,000 free meals to Newark families along with health services, and weekly fitness programs for kids
