NEWARK - Recent figures show Newark Liberty International airport had four of the most-often delayed flights in the nation for February.

Continental Flight 387 from Newark to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif., was delayed nearly an hour every time it was scheduled, according to the federal Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A delay is defined by the bureau as a wait of 30 minutes or more.

Two other Continental flights arriving at Newark rounded out the top four, both arriving late nearly 84 percent of the time.

The Regional Plan Association, a nonprofit group that studies transportation issues, recently warned delays at Newark can only get worse if the airport does not build a third runway.
