NEWARK - High school students stepped out of class and marched toward the Rutgers Newark Campus to protest proposed budget cuts that they say will hurt their education.

The state assembly budget committee meeting was holding a public hearing on the campus today.

Students from several of Newark's high schools were there, expressing concern about how the cuts will affect their futures.

The Newark school district is funded by the state.
