NEWARK - Fire crews knocked down a two-alarm house fire Wednesday at the corner of Broadway and Verona Avenue in Newark.

The deputy fire chief told News 12 New Jersey there was a heavy fire condition when crews arrived at around 4:40 p.m. Officials say the three-story, six-unit building is vacant. Neighbors say they've seen squatters in the building, but no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters have not released any information on the cause of the fire.
