Newark fire crews rescue drivers in 6 cars from rising floodwaters

NEWARK - The Newark Fire Department came to the aid of several drivers who became trapped in floodwaters Monday morning.

Crews performed several water rescues as heavy rain flooded roads with as much as 4 feet of water.

Firefighters say they made six rescues, including a woman and four children in a minivan that became trapped in high water.

There was also flooding in Guttenberg and Little Ferry. Officials remind residents not to drive through standing water.
