NEWARK - The chief of the Newark Fire Department, Michael Lalor, has announced his retirement.

Lalor says he?s worried that the city is trying to do "more with less" and the coming reductions in manpower will result in safety problems.

Nearly 100 fire department employees are facing layoffs over the next two years. Due to the layoffs, others in the department have announced their retirements as well.
