Newark cuts ribbon on rejuvenated Jesse Allen Park

NEWARK - An area once known for drugs, violence and prostitution in Newark is getting a much needed renovation.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker was on hand today for a ribbon cutting at Jesse Allen Park.

The park is undergoing a major renovation thanks to a public and private partnership.

Today's ceremony highlighted the second of three planned renovation projects to the 8 acre park.

The most recent additions include a new playground and water play area, a walking path, basketball courts and fitness zones.

Crews will now begin work on soccer and football fields.
