NEWARK - The day after a 29-year-old mother of four was murdered, a Newark city councilman is calling for more police to patrol the streets.

Councilman Luis Quintana says he believes the initiative should be year-round, not just during the summer. He believes more police on the streets will mean fewer shootings. Just this past Wednesday, three people were shot outside a home in the city's West Ward.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is still investigating Wednesday night's murder.
