Newark airport officials report string of security breaches

NEWARK - Newark airport officials have reported a string of security breaches over the last week.

Officials say a passenger prematurely left a screening area yesterday, and security was halted until Transportation Security Administration agents could find her. On Monday, a woman reportedly took her bag off the X-ray machine, even though it was flagged for further inspection, according to officials. And late last week, a passenger stopped during full-body X-ray screening also reportedly left the area without further examination.

The airport's security director says the incidents are only errors in miscommunication, and that officials are launching an investigation.
