BRICK TOWNSHIP - A new red-light enforcement camera has been placed along Route 70 and Brick Boulevard.

Township officials say the new camera has been installed based on the successful results of two other cameras in the township.

Police say that since 2010, cameras have caught 31,000 red-light runners generating $2.6 million in two years.

Mayor Stephen Acropolis says that while the financial boost helps, the main goal is public safety.

Data collected indicates that in 2011, 95 percent of red-light runners did not get another ticket.
