MAHWAH - Police in Bergen County have a new weapon for fighting crime under water.

Today they unveiled a new underwater robotic camera, designed to make search-and-recovery missions more efficient.

The new robot uses cameras and sonar technology to locate and recover things in the water.

The robot can assist police in finding pieces of evidence and missing people even in poor-visibility conditions.

The underwater robot was purchased through funding provided by the Department of Homeland Security. It's one of just a handful in the state.
