ELIZABETH - New Jersey Transit confirms that a man was shot at the Elizabeth train station.

Officials say the incident started as a robbery attempt at around 5 a.m. on the station's platform.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. News 12 is told his injury is non-life threatening.

No transit delays have been reported in the wake of the shooting.

A New Jersey Transit spokesperson says one female and two male suspects have been taken into police custody. A possible fourth suspect was seen being placed into a squad car in handcuffs.

Police are still at the scene, combing the surrounding area in an attempt to find the weapon used in the incident.
