TRENTON - The New Jersey State Police will be out in full force this St. Patrick's Day, patrolling the roads for drunken or impaired drivers.

Investigators from the Alcoholic Beverage Control also plan to go undercover in bars and restaurants to make sure patrons aren't over served during the holiday.

New Jersey officials are encouraging St. Patrick's Day celebrators to drive safely, by using a designated driver or calling a taxi when headed home.

Officials say that in 2012 drunken drivers were involved in crashes that killed 117 people in the state.
