BELMAR - The 28th Annual New Jersey Seafood Festival is in full swing at the Jersey Shore.

The menu features everything from crab cakes and scallop kabobs to whole lobsters and fried oysters from more than 40 vendors.

The Belmar festival also offers live music and a children's activity tent at Silver Lake Park.

"It's really the unofficial kick off to the summer season. I think that's what makes it so great," says Mr. Shrimp Seafood owner Vincent Petruzzielllo. "After a long winter, everyone wants to get down to the beach already, and when there's a huge event like this, it just makes it that much more attractive to come down to Belmar."

The event runs Friday until 8 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free. Shuttle service to the festival is available from the marina, downtown and the Belmar train station.
