EDISON - New Jersey residents are stocking up on supplies in anticipation of a predicted weekend snowstorm.

Team members at the Menlo Park Target tell News 12 New Jersey that they are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for food staples and outdoor items like shovels and rock salt.

“We’re very busy in here. More busy than a typical Thursday,” says Target team leader Michael Assetto.

Over at Fords Lawnmower, people are rushing in to buy any remaining snowblowers or generators. Owner Ted Wyrwa expects to sell all of his stock by Friday.

“A lot of people didn’t think it was going to snow with 70 degree weather,” he says. “That’s what a lot of the phone calls are for today. People haven’t started their snowblowers since Dec. 1 and now we’re trying to help them the best we can.”

Wyrwa says that he sold about 140 snowblowers since Wednesday.

News 12 New Jersey found that many stores throughout the state seemed to have full stocks of supplies, but items are selling out quickly.
