PERTH AMBOY - New Jersey is in for a deep freeze tonight, with overnight lows in the 20s, and a wind chill making it feel like the teens.

The waterfront at Port Imperial in West New York was empty, except for the ducks who didn't seem to mind the frigid temps.

Those that were out and about say they are getting out the cold weather gear.

Doctors at Hackensack University Medical Center say the ER tends to fill up when temps go down.

"Prevention is obvious - you have to bundle up," says Dr. Doug Finefrock. "Make sure you contain all the heat you can, including wearing hats and gloves."

Finefrock recommends keeping an eye on the very young and very old. Those who have to work in the cold weather should wear extra layers and take plenty of heat breaks.

Temperatures are expected to warm up again by the end of the week.
