Military officials say a U.S. Marine from New Jersey has died in Afghanistan.
 
The Department of Defense announced yesterday that 25-year-old Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., of Island Heights, died Nov. 26 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.
 
Monahan was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune.
