WAYNE - Whether you like thin crust or deep dish, now is the time to celebrate your love of pizza since October is National Pizza Month.

The month was given that designation back in 1984, by the owner of an Indiana pizzeria.

People don't really need a special month for pizza, though.

There are more than 63,000 pizzerias in the U.S., according to pizza.com, and 94 percent of Americans eat pizza at least once a month.

Pizza.com also says the average person eats 45 slices of pizza every year. That means Americans eat 100 acres of pizza per day, or 350 slices per second.
