EDISON - Investigators announced Wednesday that they successfully busted a ring of suspected gunrunners trafficking illegal firearms into New Jersey from Ohio.
Officials say those guns wound up in dangerous hands when they were sold to gang members and drug dealers in Irvington and Newark.
A total of 18 firearms were confiscated, including assault rifles, handguns and shotguns.

Acting New Jersey Attorney General John Hoffman says the bust is a victory over crime. "We are targeting, investigating and prosecuting those who rip apart communities by peddling murder and mayhem," he says.
The 11 arrests announced today are part of a larger investigation into illegal guns in New Jersey's most violent communities. The investigation has recently led to more than 50 arrests.
