Neptune police: Amber Bellaus sideswiped parked police cruiser while drunk

NEPTUNE - A Neptune police officer’s parked cruiser was sideswiped by an alleged drunken driver Friday morning.

Patrolman Thomas Holmstedt had stopped another car and was sitting in his cruiser with its lights flashing when the vehicle was hit.

Police say 24-year-old Amber Bellaus sideswiped the cruiser and kept going.

Holmstedt was able to catch up with the car and arrest Bellaus. She was charged with drunken driving.
