NEWARK - Neighbors came to the rescue of a mother and her three sons after a fire broke out in their Newark home.

Officials say the blaze started at around 10 p.m. yesterday in the kitchen on the second floor of the 6th Avenue home.

The mother and her three 9-year-old triplets were on the third floor when they realized the smoke was too heavy for them to get down the stairs.

The mother reacted quickly and tried to lower them out of a window. Neighbors jumped into action and caught the children as they were lowered out of the window.

Officials say no one was seriously injured, and the fire remains under investigation.
