CARLSTADT - A new app being rolled out in Carlstadt will allow people to report tips and non-emergencies to the local police department.

The app, called MyPD by Wire Blue, LLC., allows the department to personalize the app based on its needs at very little cost.

Officials say the app itself costs $400 for the police department but is free for residents to download and use.

Authorities say they hope the app will reduce calls to the police department for information during non-emergency events like snowstorms.
