PARAMUS - Officials with the National Weather Service have confirmed that an EF-1 tornado struck Paramus on Monday shortly before 3:20 p.m.

Residents spent much of Tuesday cleaning up following the strong winds and heavy rain that knocked dozens of trees into yards and on top of homes. Wood chippers were out on Alpine Drive for the cleanup after large trees took down power lines and struck houses.

A house on Paramus Road had seven trees come down. The ceiling above a child's room in another house was cracked open, but no one was in the bed below.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the storm.
