NEWARK - A famous Newark ice cream parlor is offering up a sweet deal in honor of a special anniversary this weekend.
Nasto's Ice Cream is celebrating 75 years on Jefferson Street.
The third generation ice cream makers spent the day Wednesday whipping up some new flavors. They have 50 in all. Some of them cater to their Ironbound neighbors, including Sweet Corn, and Avocado.
"Avocado is new," says Sherry Ringwood. "We made it about six months ago. It seems to be a trendy flavor. And people love it. We use fresh avocado."
This Saturday, the family is rolling back the prices on their lemon ice and vanilla ice cream to just 5 cents from noon to 4 p.m.
That's the same price as when they opened up shop in Newark back in 1939.
