FAIR LAWN - Mysterious loud noises coming from across the Passaic River have been keeping some Fair Lawn residents awake at night.
Joan and Tom Csehovics say that the noises seem to come at all hours of the night.
“Like dumpsters being dropped… that’s what it sounds like to me,” says Tom Csehovics.
Fair Lawn police say that they have received numerous reports from residents over the last few days. They suspect the noises are coming from a PSE&G substation that is under construction in Paterson.
However, a spokesperson for PSE&G says in a statement, “We have had no activity at this station recently that would have caused a loud noise or explosion as some are alleging."
The substation is getting an equipment upgrade to make the system more reliable for residents.
If it is not the construction from the substation, then residents are stumped. For now, they say that they will plug their ears at night and hope the sounds end soon.
