EDISON - Every woman in New Jersey will eventually be prescribed a mammogram.
The potentially lifesaving procedure takes just minutes. Yet, many women put it off for weeks, months or even years.
News 12 New Jersey reporter Marci Rubin was one of them. But for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Marci decided it was time to have it done. And she's taking the viewers with her.
In this exclusive News 12 New Jersey interview, hear from Joanne Persing, Assistant Director of the Barnabas Breast Center in Livingston.
Persing describes the center's unique Nurse Navigator Program, which provides one-on-one counseling for patients. Persing also discusses the program's double-screening process, aimed at providing patients the assurance of a good reading by having two different doctors read their X-rays.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17, be sure to watch Marci's full report, "My First Mammogram," in the 5 p.m. broadcast.
This interview is also available on News 12 Extra on Optimum TV channel 612.
