NEWARK - Several people were shot during a violent weekend in Newark, including a teen boy.

Witnesses told News 12 that someone was shot and killed at Mountain and Cedar avenues just before midnight. News 12 is waiting on confirmation from Newark police and the Essex County Prosector’s Office.

A 14-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot at around 7 p.m. Saturday night. The incident occurred in the 90-block of South Ninth Street.

Police say the boy was shot in the chin and taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive. Authorities are attempting to determine a motive and suspect in that case.

A woman was also fatally shot on Third Avenue early Sunday morning. She has not been identified.
