JERSEY CITY - The mother of the latest alleged victim at Sunnyside Academy is speaking out after a third employee at the day care center was arrested.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office says Annette Rocker, 69, of Palisades Park, was arrested and charged with child endangerment and child abuse after she was allegedly caught on cameras hitting, slapping and pulling a 2-year-old child.
Parents began pulling their kids out of Sunnyside after the arrests of two other workers, Ann Bactawar and Young Cha, who were allegedly caught on camera abusing children in their care.
The mother of the 2-year-old boy, who asked not to be identified to protect her son's identity, says she agreed to give the facility another chance because they liked Rocker so much.
Then police showed the alleged victim's mother a video of Rocker abusing her son more than once. "Miss Rocker went over and slapped him across the face,” the mother says. "And he fell down to the ground." She also tells News 12 New Jersey she saw another teacher pushing her son, but says the teacher has not yet been arrested.
The state has since revoked Sunnyside's license to operate, but it is currently open pending an appeal.
