NEW BRUNSWICK - Venetta Benjamin spoke briefly to reporters today after jurors found her ex-boyfriend guilty of murdering their infant daughter by tossing her off the Driscoll Bridge.

Benjamin thanked the Attorney General's Office, state police detectives and all involved law enforcement for working tirelessly on the case to ensure justice for her murdered daughter.

Prosecutors say Shamsidden Abdur-Raheem kidnapped 3-month-old Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem from Benjamin's mother's East Orange apartment in February of 2010, then fled with the baby girl, dropping her off the Driscoll Bridge.

Her body was found weeks later in the Raritan River.

Benjamin had sole custody of Zara, and had left the child in her mother's care while seeking a restraining order against Abdur-Raheem.
