BUTLER - The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office released some new details in the recent police-involved shooting in Butler.

The prosecutor’s office says that Butler police were responding to reports of a suspicious person on Belleview Terrace around 7:15 p.m. on March 31.

“Ultimately, an incident occurred resulting in a Butler police officer discharging his duty weapon, striking an adult male, age 23, multiple times,” a spokesman for the office said in a statement. “In order to ensure the integrity of the investigation…the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office cannot at this time provide any additional details of the incident.”

Family members identified the 23-year-old as Dylan Hannah. Hannah’s mother tells News 12 New Jersey that her son had just arrived at his grandparent’s house when Butler police arrived and knocked down the front door.

Hannah is hospitalized in critical condition.

No arrests have been made and so far no criminal charges have been filed.
