More than 150K without power in NJ

EDISON - Utility crews continue making progress restoring service to customers who lost electricity four days after the first bands of Hurricane Irene reached New Jersey.

There are 162,373 homes and businesses without service this afternoon.

JCP&L says it has restored power to about 541,000 customers. The utility says the majority of the 170,000 remaining should have power back by the end of this weekend.

PSE&G says 33,000 are still without service. The utility estimates customers in Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Mercer counties should have service restored by midnight Friday. Union, Middlesex and Somerset county customers may have to wait until Sunday.

Atlantic City Electric has 157 outages.

AP wire services contributed to this report.
