More than 12,000 students graduate Rutgers University

PISCATAWAY - More than 12,000 students at Rutgers University received their diplomas today at Rutgers Stadium, a location that has not been used for many years for the spring commencement.

The change of venue was meant to attract larger crowds and bring in bigger names to speak, a move which has caused some controversy.

The keynote speaker was author and Nobel-prize winner, Tony Morrison. The school agreed to pay her $30,000 for the speech, which was less than "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was paid to speak to students at an earlier event.

Some students felt that she deserved more but other students say they only really cared about the opportunity to walk across the stage and be recognized for their hard work. Rutgers pays MTV's 'Snooki' $32,000 for speaking engagements
