EDISON - More than 12,000 PSE&G customers in Bergen and Hudson counties were without electricity Monday at the peak of a major outage.

PSE&G says more than 4,000 customers in Bergen and more than 7,000 customers in Hudson lost power for several hours.
It's the third time in about two weeks that the area has seen a major outage. The power went out last week in Cliffside Park due to problems at the nearby substation.

PSE&G says a cable failure caused today's outage.

As of 7:50 p.m., most customers in Bergen and Hudson counties had power restored.
