Montvale considers limit on garage sales

MONTVALE - Montvale Borough Council is considering a limit on garage sales in the borough. An ordinance being considered by the council would require residents to obtain a $10 permit holding a sale and limit households to three sales per year.

The move follows complaints that some people in the borough were holding several sales per month.

The $10 permit would be good for two days. Police would also have to be notified of the garage sale.

Charitable, religious and civic organizations would be allowed more than the three-permit cap.
