MONTCLAIR - Montclair's Town Council decided to suspend the town's Arts Council at a meeting last Tuesday.

Town Manager Mark Deshield says based on the $3.3 million budget gap, the town has to concentrate on core elements to its local government, including public health, safety and welfare.

Both the council and the community Pre-K program have a slim chance for funding in 2011.

The Montclair Arts Council has raised almost as much money as it's been allotted over the past five years. The director says smaller arts programs need that economic stability.
