Montclair police report higher gang presence than state report

MONTCLAIR - Montclair police say they have a higher gang presence than a recent report from the New Jersey State Police initially indicated.

According to the state?s 2010 survey, there were 28 alleged gang members in Montclair; however, officials there say that the number has hit 97.

Officials say the report found 45 percent of local municipalities have a gang presence. Residents can access the information on the state police website.
