Monmouth County SPCA warns against Halloween pit bull hoax

EATONTOWN - The Monmouth County SPCA is warning against an online hoax encouraging the killing of pit bulls for Halloween.

The viral messages are calling Halloween "kill a pit bull day."

Animal rights advocates with the Monmouth County SPCA initially didn't want to acknowledge the online hoax, but now that the message is spreading, they want to make sure pet owners take precaution.

They advise that pit bull owners, as well as dog owners in general, be especially careful on Halloween. They also recommend keeping pets indoors in a room that is safe and secure.
