FREEHOLD - Mobile betting may be headed to New Jersey racetracks by the end of the year.

The new technology would allow spectators to place bets using an app on a smart phone or tablet.

Right now, there are several ways to place a bet at the track, either with the teller, at a machine, on the phone, or through the internet.

Racing fans hope the new technology will help draw a younger crowd to horse racing and help boost the industry as a whole.
