MAHWAH - A missing horse named "Chief" has been found near the Tennessee Gas Pipeline in North Jersey after a week of heartache.

He went missing March 15 from a farm in Mahwah.

Chief is doing well, with just a few scratches from his week on the road. His owners and friends are thanking police and the public for their assistance.

"I think what touched people, was the fact that he was a rescued horse originally," says family friend Tina Sheldon. "We think that he's about 20 years old. The fact that he's such a beautiful horse of course also helped."

A veterinarian who examined the horse says Chief is in good condition, just a little underfed and worn out.
