EAST WINDSOR - A 73-year-old woman was found murdered inside her East Windsor home and police are looking her daughter-in-law who might have information, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office confirms.

Investigators say Safia Diwan was found dead in the front office of her Mozart Court home just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police responded to the house after receiving a 911 call.

Police say that the house did not seem to be broken into, and it appears as if Safia Diwan was bludgeoned. An autopsy was expected to be performed Wednesday.

Friends and neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that the home is owned by the victim’s son, Dr. Nauman Diwan. He has an internal medicine practice in Hamilton.

Authorities are now looking at Nauman’s wife Tasneem Diwan, 45, who also lived at the home. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office would not say if she is a suspect but only called her a “missing and distraught family member.”

Tasneem Diwan was last seen driving a green 2000 Nissan Quest minivan with New Jersey registration JYY16P.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mercer County Homicide Task Force at 609-610-6694 or the East Windsor Township Police Department at 609-448-5678.
