NEWARK - The dog who escaped from baggage handlers last month at Newark Liberty International Airport has been found.

Continental Airlines was transporting Daisy, a Golden Lab/Shepherd mix, from Syracuse to San Diego, when she broke free from her leash during a layover in Newark.

Volunteer searchers have been scouring New Jersey's largest city for Daisy since she was reported missing. One of the volunteers spotted Daisy yesterday at a hotel parking lot near the airport. She was taken to a local veterinarian where she was identified by her micro-chip. The canine's owners, Paul and Brigid Cook, traveled to New Jersey this morning to be reunited with the dog. All three are headed back home to California.
