Missing Bogota man found dead

BOGOTA - A missing Bogota man who was last seen on Sunday, has been found dead following a search Wednesday evening.

Family members say 76-year-old Victor Portalatin was discovered by volunteers behind an old soap factory, less than a half-mile from his home. Portalatin's sons say their father had left his home over the weekend to go for a walk, but never returned.

Bogota police say a Silver Alert was not issued for Portalatin because his disappearance did not meet the criteria set by the state. Police were planning to launch a helicopter search of the area tomorrow.
