Middlesex County reports 4th rabies case of 2013

SOUTH PLAINFIELD - Health officials in Middlesex County have reported that a raccoon tested positive for rabies in South Plainfield.

The Middlesex County Office of Health Services says it’s the fourth rabid animal reported within the county for 2013 and the first reported in South Plainfield.

Rabies Prevention Guidelines from Middlesex County Office of Health Services

The animal was found near Norwood and South Plainfield avenues after a report that the raccoon bit a resident’s dog in their yard. No human bites or exposures have been reported.
