Michael Wells, 56, found dead behind Long Branch home, died from gunshot wounds
LONG BRANCH - The death of a man found behind a home in Long Branch Wednesday morning has been ruled a homicide.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says Michael Wells, 56, of Point Pleasant, died of gunshot wounds.
Waltraud Chiafullo says she and her husband heard gunshots early that morning. When she looked out the window, she saw a man lying face down in the grass.

Wells' body was just feet from Chiafullo's back porch. She believes he may have been trying to get inside the home to get help.
Authorities searched the backyard and canvassed the neighborhood. Police told Chiafullo Wells worked at Mid Atlantic Food Distributors, which is behind her home.
The death comes two weeks after a double homicide of a mother and her boyfriend on nearby Sairs Avenue. There has been no arrest in that case.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to call the prosecutor's office.
