Metuchen moms want drivers to slow down, yield to pedestrians
METUCHEN - Mothers who get around on foot in Metuchen say drivers there need to slow down and keep an eye out for pedestrians.
They say that despite signs, many drivers charge right through when someone is in the crosswalk.
After several incidents of pedestrians being struck on Metuchen's streets, a group of mothers are urging borough leaders and the police to do more for pedestrian safety.

"Watch where you're driving," says Jessica Weiss. "And be aware of your surroundings. In Metuchen people do want to walk around and enjoy our town, and walk to where they want to go."
On July 21, residents say they will bring up the issue at a borough council meeting.
