MONTCLAIR - A memorial service was held today for the Montclair flight instructor who died in a plane crash last month.

Craig MacCallum, 58, and a 19-year-old student pilot were in the plane when it crashed onto railroad tracks shortly after takeoff on May 31 in Linden. The student pilot was critically injured.

The memorial service was held at Montclair High School. A reception followed at George Inness Annex.

MacCallum had been flying since he was 16 and spent 30 years as a recreational pilot before becoming an instructor around 2007.
