EDISON - Heavy ticket sales have pushed tonight's Mega Millions jackpot even higher, as frenzied lottery players across New Jersey and other participating states line up for a chance at hitting it big.
The jackpot is now an estimated $312 million, up from the initial estimate of $304 million. The lottery game has been without a top winner since the Feb. 1 drawing.
The $312 million estimated jackpot is the sixth-highest in Mega Millions history. If no ticket matches all six numbers in tonight's drawing, the estimated jackpot is likely to approach the $390 million range for the March 29 drawing.
The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million.
