EAST RUTHERFORD - (AP) - Meadowlands Racetrack officials saythey won't hold racing in April as the state and horse ownerssearch for a deal to keep the track running.

New Jersey is lending the track $1.2 million to keep it goingthrough March. If a buyer for the track can't be found by then,live racing could shut down.

If a sale is in place, officials are planning to start thesummer season on May 7, offering racing at 7 p.m. on Thursday,Friday and Saturday nights until August.

Some holiday matinees are also scheduled.

The $1 million Meadowlands Paces is scheduled for July 16 andthe $1.5 million Hambletonian on Aug. 6.
