McDonald's designates Tuesday as 'National Day of Hiring'

NEWARK - McDonald's says it's looking to super-size its U.S. workforce today by hiring 50,000 new workers.

McDonald's says those filling the store-level jobs will make an average of $8.30 per hour.

Company officials say they don't know exactly how many people would be hired in New Jersey, but add that part- and full-time jobs would be available with opportunities to grow.

More than 9 percent of New Jersey residents are currently looking for a job.

Candidates interested in applying are encouraged to visit their local participating McDonald's branches or fill out an application online.
